Level C1 corresponds to proficient users of the language. If you identify yourself with it, this means that you can perform complex tasks related to social, academic, and professional situations,

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) has six levels, from A1 for beginners, up to C2 for users who are proficient in the language. Levels are divided into three blocks: A or basic user, B or independent user, and C or proficient user.

What can you do at the C1 level?

If you are C1 level, you can:

  • understand a wide range of more demanding, longer texts, and recognise implicit meaning in them;
  • express yourself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for the right expression;
  • use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic, and professional purposes, produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing correct use of organisational patterns, connectors, and cohesive devices.
